I have dementia: I Need Support

Our team of counsellors are available to help you throughout the dementia journey. They can help you understand the disease, give you practical strategies, help you navigate health care and community services, and support you with future planning.

This service is provided at no cost to you.

Our counsellors are available to meet with you:

  • Over the telephone
  • At your local office
  • In your home
  • Using tele-conferencing software like Zoom

We encourage individuals diagnosed with any form of dementia to contact us to get connected with our counselling team.

We offer in-person and online support groups for individuals living with early-stage dementia. Our groups are intended to help you emotionally process the changes you experience when living with dementia and the groups will help you to build relationships with others who are experiencing similar changes.

Groups are facilitated by one of our counsellors and are kept small to allow each participant to learn and share. This group meets weekly, for 5 weeks. There is no cost to attend this group.

We encourage individuals diagnosed with any form of dementia to speak to their counsellor about joining an early-stage support group.

Our newest support group is for individuals living with young onset dementia, generally people who were diagnosed with dementia before the age of 65.

This virtual support group meets weekly over Zoom and is facilitated by your peers – individuals living with young onset dementia. It is intended to help you emotionally process the changes you experience when living with young onset dementia. By participating in this group, you will meet other people living with young onset dementia and have an opportunity to listen to them and share your experiences. There is no cost to attend this group.

We encourage individuals living with young onset dementia to speak to their counsellor about joining this support group.
