Reflecting on Alzheimer’s Awareness Month: A Look Back at Our Conversation on Rogers TV #BrantLife

January was Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on the realities of dementia, share resources, and encourage open conversations about its impact on individuals and families. As part of this initiative, Public Educator Madison Brown and Aileen Bradshaw, our Director of Development, joined Rogers TV #BrantLife to discuss the importance of awareness and share practical ways to reduce the risk of dementia.

In their interview, Madison and Aileen highlighted the need for community-wide understanding and support. They addressed common misconceptions about dementia, provided insights into early warning signs, and shared tips on how to engage in meaningful conversations with individuals living with dementia. They also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle—including regular physical activity, social engagement, and a balanced diet—as key factors in reducing dementia risk.

One of the key takeaways from the conversation was a reminder that dementia affects not only the individual but also their loved ones and caregivers. That’s why fostering inclusive communities and offering accessible resources are critical. At the Alzheimer Society, we’re proud to provide a range of free programs that bring people together, provide education, and build connections.
